To commemorate 10 years of India’s Act-East Policy, Seher is organizing a ten-day residential ASEAN-India Artists’ Camp 2025, themed "Echoes of Ramayana: Artistic Journeys across ASEAN and India." This unique initiative will convene 21 talented painters—one from each of the 10 ASEAN Member States, one from Timor-Leste (as the observer Country), and ten from India, along with three mentors from India who will guide and inspire the artists throughout the camp.
The camp will be held in Shillong, Meghalaya, a city that epitomizes the cultural richness of Northeast India. This region is often referred to as the "Gateway to Southeast Asia" due to its strategic location and extensive international borders with countries like Myanmar and Bangladesh.
The camp celebrates the deep cultural and civilizational linkages between ASEAN and India, with the Ramayana serving as a shared artistic and literary inspiration. Each artist will create a unique work reflecting their cultural heritage while participating in interactive workshops, discussions, and collaborative sessions, fostering deeper artistic exchange and mutual understanding.
