The World Conference brought together Controllers and Auditor Generals from 52 countries, who gathered in India for an important conference. The then Minister of Finance, Mr. Arun Jaitley, hosted a dinner for the visiting CAGs. The entire event, including the cultural program, was organized by the Indian CAG, with Seher managing both the dinner and the accompanying cultural experience.
The chosen venue for the cultural program was Purana Qila, but since the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) prohibits serving food and liquor at ASI sites, we had to innovate. The guests, including the Finance Minister of France, were guided through a unique procession that took them on a 16-minute walk from Purana Qila to the lakefront of the DDA park just below the fort, where the dinner was held.
As the procession made its way through Purana Qila, a recorded commentary played, providing historical insights into Purana Qila and the rich history of Delhi. The pathway was adorned with lights, creating an ambiance reminiscent of a traditional Barat procession. Speakers were strategically placed along the walkway, ensuring that the commentary could be heard clearly.
Upon reaching the lakefront, the cultural program began, featuring performances like “Padharo Maare Des” and live instrumental music with the santoor and sitar. After the dinner, guests were treated to modern contemporary Indian music, providing a relaxing backdrop as they enjoyed dessert and ice cream.
The event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees. It was a memorable evening that seamlessly blended tradition with innovation, creating an unforgettable experience.
