In a unique effort, legendary classical
musicians came together to celebrate 60 years
of the United Nations in India. Pandit Hari Prasad
Chaurasia and Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma unveileda
new raga called “Shanti Prerna” which they dedicated
to the United Nations to mark the sixtieth anniversary
of the organization at the Old Fort in New Delhi.
Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is known internationally
as the greatest living master of Bansuri, the
North Indian bamboo flute and is a rare combination
of innovator and traditionalist. Pandit Shiv Kumar
Sharma has created history in the world of music
by playing the hundred strains instrument called
‘Santoor’. And his performances are such a brilliant
combination of rich knowledge, perfect skill and
abundant spontaneous creativity.
